General club questions: Questions from new players: Equipment related questions:
The dues seem kind of high. Is it really worth it?

There are two answers to this:

  1. To play with the club will be much cheaper than going alone to a park because of the deals we are able to make with Atlas Paintball Park for our Recreation Days (Rec Days).
  2. For tournament players, we also get reduced pricing because of the frequency of our practices.
  3. For more information on this, go to our dues section.

Do you ever play in tournaments?

As a Rutgers College Recreation Sport Club one of our main objectives is to play in tournaments. We usually play other college teams in the north-east such as Penn State, Drexel, Uconn, and Maryland. However, you do not need to play in tournaments to be a member of the club.

What if I've never played before?

The Rutgers University Paintball Club is always open to people who are new to paintball. We have large amounts of experience both teaching people how to play and continually helping them develop into better players. We always make sure that new players feel comfortable playing with us no matter what level of experience they may have. In fact, 90% of our top tournament players never played paintball before joining the club.

Who can join the club?

The following people can join the paintball club:

  1. Students: This includes both under-grad and graduate students. This also includes any students from Newark, New Brunswick or Camden as well as commuters. Also, it doesn't matter where you live on campus, as long as you are a currently enrolled student.
  2. Any faculty members: Again, faculty from any of the three campuses can join.
  3. Any staff members: If you have a valid Rutgers ID you can play.
NOTE: Some of the tournaments we attend restrict us to only allowing under-graduate and graduate students to play.

If you do not fall into one of these three categories but you think you might be eligible to play, email us and we'll see what we can do.

What kind of games do we play?

For Rec Days we play the first team to eliminate everyone on the opposing team wins. This is done on the Scenario field as well as speed ball fields (whichever the players want).

For tournament players we practice two different formats:

  1. 5-Man, basic 5 vs. 5 with scoring based on flag pulls/hangs and players alive.
  2. X-ball, 32 minute game filled with as many 5-man games as possible where each flag hang counts for 1 point.

When do we play?

Rec Days are held on Saturdays during the course of the school year, while tournament practices are held every Sunday.
